Source: WikipediaHey Dads and kids here are a few ideas for Mother’s Day (May 11th, 2008) that are sure to make her smile and may even make her shed a tear of joy. I was flipping through an old copy of Parent’s Magazine (May 2007) and found two nice ideas for your kids to give mom.
The first is a craft that would take an hour or two one weekend afternoon while Mommy was out running errands or something. It is creating a Love Note Message Jar. I’ll write another post about the second idea later.
What you will need for this project (no, not a hammer!)
- an empty jar, like a spaghetti sauce jar or even a plastic rice container
- paint
- foam brush
- colored paper
- markers, Crayons
- stickers
- ribbon
Step 1
Use the foam brush to paint the jar lid. Give it two coats, letting the lid dry between coats.
Step 2
Cut 15 1″x6″ strips of decorative/colored paper and have your child write a different message to Mommy on each of the strips. (You can give them a little help in creativity like, “What do you love about Mommy” or “How does Mommy make you smile?”) Dads, don’t write the messages yourself, you can make your own jar for that.
Step 3
Roll each of the messages into a ring and tape it closed with a sticker and then place it in the jar. Have the message be on the inside of the ring so Mommy has to open the ring to read the message.
Step 4
Decorate the outside of the jar however your child wants to, this encourages creativity and imagination! Label the jar with a saying like “Why I Love Mommy!” or “The Many Reasons I Love Mommy”.
