Take Your Kids to a Movie This Summer

Posted by Toolbox Dad on May 24, 2008

As summer is fast approaching and the school doors will be shut for 3 months, what will you do with your kids? Even if you have preschoolers in daycare, this is something that every family should take advantage of this summer.

Take your child to the movies. If you are like me, you are probably thinking, “HUH? Right, like I can’t get my preschooler to sit still on the couch for 45 minutes, how will he/she sit for 1hr+?” You don’t have to worry, the movies are FREE. That’s right, F-R-E-E!

Every Tuesday and Wednesday morning, Regal Cinemas provides free G & PG rated movies to their local communities. Regal calls it their Free Family Film Festival. This is a program that they started almost twenty years ago!

So I’ve been considering taking at least my son who will be 4yo in October to his first real movie. I can take the day off of work, pull him out of daycare for a few hours and not worry about him not sitting for the whole movie.

Access Regal’s web site to search by your state for local theaters running this program and to check what movies will be showing. My local theaters schedule for the summer is as follows:

  • 06/17/2008-06/18/2008
Polar Express (G) / Shrek The Third (PG)
  • 06/24/2008-06/25/2008
March Of The Penguins (G) / Madagascar (PG)
  • 07/01/2008-07/02/2008
